Then my daughter and I went to lunch across the street and while we were eating, we decided to go back and buy more! This vacation was largely a yarn expedition for me, and I visited about 12 shops in the Seattle area. When I went in there, I certainly came out with yarn and patterns. And she has a great knack of listening to you talk and figuring out exactly the types of yarns and projects that you'd enjoy - just from her observations. I stumbled into this store on my vacation this year (it's up a set of stairs and I walk with a cane sometimes.), and it was wonderful! This store is a little of the main thoroughfares of Spokane, I hadn't been in for a few years and was very happy to see it still in business. The staff is very friendly and enthusiastic about helping you pick yarns for your projects. The shop is packed with lots of wonderful yarns in mostly natural fibers. The Acorn Street Yarn Shop is a wonderful shop located in the University District in Seattle. They also accept donations so its a good place to donate your stash of yarn you won't use. I recommend checking it out to anyone in search of a good deal. The hours vary, and because of the small staff they are only open the first Saturday of the month, though the manager told me they'd be open every Saturday starting in February of 2008. ![]() Parking is a little tricky, but there is street parking close by if you can't find the parking lot behind the condos next door. The staff is really helpful and so friendly. Its a really warm environment with coffee and tea set out, a big table for just sitting, talking and knitting, and yarn displayed anywhere they can fit it. All of the money they make goes to a domestic violence counseling agency to help women and kids. Its amazing! The shelves are full of all different kinds of yarn some directly donated, some purchased by the manager using donated money.
